Coats Pensions Office in Glasgow is responsible for the Governance of the Scheme. The team comprises a number of staff – we would like to introduce them to you.
Meet the Team
Kevin holds the role of Pensions Specialist & Governance Support. He joined Coats in 1992, aged just 17. He uses these years of experience in his main tasks, which include project delivery, governance and compliance support and providing training to the Group Member Services team. Kevin is the father of two children. If there is any money left in the ‘bank of dad’, he spends it following his unique musical tastes and his favourite football team, Tottenham Hotspur.
Karen is a Principal Pensions Administrator and a veteran of Coats, having been here for over 25 years. She works part time and deals with all types of calculations including retirements and transfers. Outside of work, she is a keen shopper and also loves spending quality time with her family. Karen has enjoyed some Coats fame, starring as the Harlequin in a previous edition of the Coats Plan Explanatory Booklet.
Karen is our Member Services Coordinator and Technical Specialist. As Member Services Coordinator, she ensures the effective management of the Group Member Services workload and accurate payment of monthly pensioner payments. Working closely with the Pensions Governance Manager, as Technical Specialist, she monitors and ensures compliance with legislative changes and industry best practice. Karen has worked for Coats since April 2008; she holds CIPP and PMI certificates, and is dedicated to continuous professional development.
Martin joined the team in September 2017 and celebrated his 30th birthday the same week. We’re unsure which of those facts he finds more depressing. As our Pensions Technician he helps provide a quality service to all members by paying pensions accurately and on schedule, responding to queries and providing support to the team in all aspects of member administration. Prior to joining us, Martin worked as a wages administrator. In addition to running and going to the gym, he’s a big football fan and follows one half of the “Old Firm”.
Melanie joined us in 2005, and has progressed through various roles to her current position of Payments Technician. This role involves working on the monthly payroll to ensure that pensioners are paid correctly and on time each month. Outside of work, Melanie enjoys spending time with her young family and keeping fit.
