Who Can Join the Plan?

The Plan is open to all those permanent employees of Coats plc and its subsidiaries in the UK, and to temporary employees with more than 12 months' continuous service, who have not yet reached age 65.

If you work less than 30 hours a week you can join the Plan as a part-time member (30 hours or more means you are a full-time member). The hours per week you are contracted to work are known as your Contract Hours.

The benefits for part-time members are worked out in much the same way as for full-timers. However, if you are part-time, your contributions are calculated in relation to the number of hours you work.

For more information about joining the Plan, please download the Explanatory Booklet from the Forms & Factsheets section of our website.

How to Join

If you are a permanent employee between ages 16 and 65, you can join the Plan simply by filling in an application form. The form is available from your Unit Pension Officer or Personnel Officer. If you join at your first opportunity i.e. within 3 months of becoming eligible, no medical information will be required. Otherwise you will be asked to complete a simple medical questionnaire. We also need to see your birth certificate (and marriage certificate, if you are a married woman). But don't delay in joining - if you can't find these immediately, they can be handed in later.
